HP6300 scanning problems

Hi all, I just started getting fine, multi-colored vertical lines in all of
my scans on my HP 6300c scanner. Does anyone know what the problem might be
and how to fix it? The scanner is about 5-6 years old. Thanks for any help

It might have something to do with the light tube. Do the stripes
disappear after some time?
