I hope You don't find my question too trivial ...
I wonder what would be the best scanning software for my FS40000US film
scanner. I am a semi-pro photographer shooting for
magazines/newspapers. I am also a member in a stock agency. I'm going
to consentrate on the stock photography and for that I'd like to have
the best tools (well, at least get the best out of the gear I currently
own). So, any tips on choosing a scanning software?

Take a look at one of these two:

1. Vuescan - http://www.hamrick.com/ - Free trail available
2. Silverfast - http://www.silverfast.com/ - Demo available

Good luck!

Both VueScan and Silverfast (as mentioned) are useful but the Canoscan
program is quite good also. If you want Canoscan to capture in the
background (rather than tying up Photoshop) try TwainTiffBatcher
(<http://www.goof.com/~mmead/TwainTiffBatcher/>) wich captures the
Canoscan output to a TIFF file.
