film scanning

Hi all,

My understanding is that a normal 35mm film should easily be able to scan up
to 2000dpi and above without looking blurry, yet I'm trying to scan at only
1200dpi and it's looking a bit dodgy.

I'm using a Scanmaker 8700, with the under-flatbed film scanner. The scanner
itself is supposed to be up to scanning at above this res. Anyone got any
ideas on what could be up?

Thanks
Rob

1200 is max optical rez for that scanner.
And being a flatbed, the actual resolving power of that 1200ppi is much
lower. You're probably getting all that model can deliver.

You might ask on comp.periphs.scanners for other opinions. That's an
active group, this one is essentially dead.
