I have had a canon D660U for ages & it's worked fine, both under my old
Windows 98 system & under my more recent XP system. But suddenly today it's
stopped working. The system claims not to be able to find the scanner. It's
connected fine (in fact I hadn't even changed the connections). I've
completely uninstalled the drivers (using the most recent uninstall software
from Canon's website) & software, and removed the scanner connection
physically. Then done a complete reinstall. And still it's the same. Yet
when I run a diagnotic to test the scanner it says it's fine.

Anyone got any ideas?

Hmmm.... Yes, that sounds like a good idea, but I happen to have 2 sets of
USB ports, & I've already swapped the scanner over to try some of the other
connections with the same result. Unless there's something more fundamental
that I'm missing, I guess the problem's not in the USB port (besides -
presumably if it was the USB port then the scanner wouldn't run through the
diagnostic test successfully).
