Hello All! I would very much like to consolidate all of my personal paper
files into electronic form. Has anyone else attempted something similiar?
If so, how? Do you have recommendations for:

1) Sheet-feeder equipped scanner for scanning the documents documents
2) Software to drive the scanner providing the ability to scan & store
documents - hopefully providing the ability to "file" the documents in some
sort of folder like structure.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

Hi Radi!

For this purpose I bought an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo and the optional
sheet feeder. The decision for the Epson hardware was mostly based on the
fact that I also wanted to have a good device for scanning pictures and
low total costs. The sheet feeder works pretty good but is not built for
high volume scanning. Keep this in mind.

HP hardware was no option for me because of their totally stupid software.
Other, more professional hardware is in most cases more expensive and
limited in use (optical resolution...).

For document management I use Leitz ELO Office 5.0 which suits my needs
pretty well. With good programmed TWAIN or WIA drivers (Windows!), I can
confirm that for Epson, ELO can set up the scanning parameters and scan
without popping up the scan dialog window. Very handy!

Feel free to ask more in detail...
