After scanning a legal document to Applications > Word, I am unable to type
into the blank fields. The only place I can type is where words already appear,
and I don't want to overwrite them. I can insert a text box into the blank field,
but that also inserts the outline of the text box.

How does one scan a document to Word 97 so that they can type entries
into the blank places? I've been fighting this for days and I think I've tried every
combination that my Smart Panel offers. Thanks for suggestions.

You'll need an OCR app that can do forms.

Ok, thanks. There is an OCR program that came with this scanner,
and I've tried it but didn't have any success. I'll try it again.

Most OCR proggies that come with scanners are LE versions. Might need to
get a full version. Also note, that OCR to forms is a separate function,
and might need a separate app, like OmniForm or somesuch.

Thanks again. I did get my program to work, it's called Presto OCR, but it's
a PIA because the form comes out distorted and it's a major job to change
it back to the original shape, then I have to expand the boxes for typed entries.
