Discussion:
Convert LS-30 into LS-2000?
(too old to reply)

It was mentioned here some time ago that the Nikon LS-30 and LS-2000 are
hardware identical but with different firmware, and that an LS-30 could
be "converted" to be an LS-2000 by burning LS-2000 firmware into it.

Does anyone have the procedure, or a link to the procedure, for doing
this? The firmware installer would need to be "patched" not to check
that the scanner was an LS-2000 instead of an LS-30.

Sounds to me like a good way to turn the LS-30 into a door stop.

The hardware is different in spite of what you may have heard.

Have you been to the Nikon Support site for the LS-30 firmware update? There
is a Version 1.3 available.

Other people are saying that the hardware is identical and that they
have DONE it.
