Discussion:
Calibrating a Mirascan - Acer 640BT
(too old to reply)

I've got hold of an old Acer (Benq) 640BT scanner with the transparency and
Negative scanning facility.

But no templates for the negatives and slides.

It seems there is something in the templates that is used for calibration.
Anyone got this model and can tell me what the heck is used - is it a clear
section, graded colours, or what???

Many thanks

Benq parts for scanners
http://store.yahoo.com/benqshopper/scac.html

Scroll down to about the middle of the page and you will find:

Scan Frame

Which are the flatbed masks for transparencies.

Looks like it is $19 for the set of three masks. That is what the picture
shows.

Pre-Sale & Rebate Information
Please call 1-866-700-2367
I would give them a call to be sure that item is all three masks.

Thanks but it is $19 each frame, and not possible as I am in Thailand, not
the US. I'm much more interested in what is actually in the calibration part
of the frame, if anyone knows?

I know. My scanner is Acer 620ST.

I have these masks, I have put up on my Web Site actual size images of the
masks with dimensions.

Many thanks, got it. Looks like it is just a plain space, nothing special at
all.

Have since tried using a blank space, it scanned OK and the image looks
good, well good enough for me but then I'm not a perfectionist.

Thanks

Mark BR

PS how do they justify $57 for the frames .......... also read your bit
about manuals and agree it is stupid but everyone in the west seems
frightened of litigation.

I still have not repaired that monitor.

I have no idea how Benq can justify $57 for three pieces of plastic.I think
the $19 for all three would be the right price. The only thing I can think
of, is they are the only place you can get these parts. On the other hand,
They only charge $19 for a SCSI card.
